As Senior Year starts rolling to a close… 2017 Seniors are feeling the need to capture the relationships that are the most important to them.  One of my favorite things at Dawne Carlisle Photography is to offer Friendship Sessions to show the love, laughter and joy so they can look back and always remember this pivotal time in their lives.

I got to spend time with Allison & Tyler at Pt. Defiance Park in Tacoma watching them laugh the afternoon away!  It was so fun to watch the happiness they share!

Honestly… they are pretty cute, right?

They are off to college together in the fall… and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

There are a few girls that will be graduating in 2017 that hold a special spot in my heart and Katie is one of them.  I think a lot of people know that she is wicked smart, beyond kind and of course beautiful!  She is a loyal friend and I have felt very fortunate that our family was blessed to spend so much time with her and her family over the last years.

When I was asked to take her Senior Pictures… I was so excited to document this special time in her life!

If you have watched Katie play sports which is how I got to know Katie, then you get to know a completely different side of her!  Petite, sweet Katie is fierce, competitive and determined!  She is a force!

Katie had her choice of universities to head off to next year!  She will be going to WSU in the fall!   They are lucky to have you!

You think of your child as the little 3 year old with the head full of curls toddling around the house in their footie pajamas.  But in the last week they came home and announced “I’m a SENIOR now!!”.  How in the world did that happen?  Honestly it feels like it happened overnight.  I know this because the last of my 4 daughters said these exact words to me last week and my heart landed in my stomach with a resounding thud.

With the impending senior year comes a million firsts and lasts.  First application to college, college visits, last dances and football games.   On top of that is a Senior checklist that includes Senior Pictures.  I am getting asked on a daily basis now “When should I get my child’s pictures taken?”  So let’s talk about that!

There are a number of factors that go into the answer of when you should have your images taken.  Think about the following:

*Does your senior play a fall or winter sport?  Schedule your session in the summer
*Is your senior involved in creative arts (plays, choir, etc) Schedule your session in the summer
*Consider the tones of your session.  Are you hoping for sundresses and sandals or sweaters and scarves?  This will determine timing of Summer or Fall.
*Depending on your school, the deadline for the yearbook will become a factor.  Many schools will need your yearbook image by November.  Also remember that once daylight savings hits the days will shorten and it will be dark by 4:30pm.  This will significantly limit scheduling for senior pictures.

Summer Senior sessions will have a particular look to them, they are bright and sunny.  They are easier to schedule because weather is less of an issue and the days are longer with fewer scheduling conflicts.

Fall Sessions are equally fantastic… think chunky sweaters and beautiful autumn colors!

One of the best things about being a photographer is getting to know families.  I had the pleasure of taking Ashley’s brothers pictures 2 years ago… but it seems like yesterday! What a fun time I had spending the afternoon with Ashley and Mom Tara!  We laughed & laughed and occasionally took pictures between picking out clothes and jewelry!  Oh the jewelry!  Ashley is the whole package… smart, beautiful, kind – so I wasn’t surprised at all when her Mom told me weeks later she was selected to be Daffodil Queen.   So worthy! Without further ado… Queen Ashley!Dawne Carlisle Photography Senior ImagesPINIMAGEDawne Carlisle Photography Senior ImagesPINIMAGEAnd because I always love to capture the senior with their Mom … how sweet are these?Dawne Carlisle Photography Senior ImagesPINIMAGE
